How to track Satellites.txt - Desktop of "rotator" computer in shack - updated 1 November 2004 POWER 1. Switch on the KCT Power box behind the 70 cm antenna switch 2. NOW switch on the azimuth and elevation rotor control boxes (AFTER the KCT Power box) SOFTWARE 3. Start "Nova for Windows" and click "OK" and "Continue" so you have a list of satellites visible. 4. Drag a few satellites from the left pane into the right one (like AO-51, ISS, SAFIR 2... whatever you like). 5. Click the "Create" button. MAP 6. Move the windows around so you can see the menu bar. 7. Go to menu Views --> Configure Current View 8. Click on the "Observers" tab. If "X" is not in the list - I. Click the "Set Up Observers" button. II. In the lower-left, there are entries of text which you can edit. a) change the Location to X (for X marks the spot) b) change Latitude deg. to 30 c) Latitude min. becomes 36 d) Latitude sec. becomes 45 e) Longitude deg. becomes 96 f) Longitude min. becomes 20 g) Longitude sec. becomes 31 III. Click the "Add to Observers List" button, and "Yes", and "OK". 9. Drag "X" from the left pane to the right pane. Click OK. POINT 10. Go to menu AutoTracking --> Set AutoTracking observer 11. Drag X from the left pane to the right pane text box. Click OK. SAT 12. In the window with the map, which has a table of numbers on the right side, "scroll right" until your satellite's data is in view. Click on the name, and the name box's background will turn maroon. 13. Go to menu Autotracking --> Start Autotracking. Enjoy! You can resize the map, too.
